Today we are launching our pet of the month feature. We are inviting our supporters/followers to nominate their own furry/feathered/scaly/hairy friend to be our pet of the month.
Not only will your beloved pet be featured in a post that all of our 13,000+ followers could see, but will also stay permanently on our Pet of the Month Gallery.
All we ask is for a minimum donation of £20 and for you to send us a few words and pictures. If you would like your treasured companion to be a future pet of the month, please email Will at enquiries@rspcacroydon.org.uk and type Pet of the Month in the subject line of the email.
Tigger the Cat

How apt that on the first day of the Chinese Year of the Tiger that Tigger should be our very first pet of the month. Here is what owner Karen told us about Tigger.
We adopted Tigger in 2008 when she was 6/7 years old. I remember the volunteer passing her to me and she climbed up onto my neck and gave me the biggest hug, tucking her head under my chin, something she still does now at times.
We don’t know her exact age as she and her sister Smurf had been rescued by Celia Hammond, which is where we got them from. My husband and I always laughed about the fact that they had been described as “inseparable” when in fact they were typical sisters, annoying each other with occasional bursts of affection!
Sadly, Smurf died a few years ago but Tigger is now a ripe old 19/20 years of age. She is deaf, quite blind and the most good-natured cat you will ever meet. In all the time we have had her she has hissed once, and that was at the vet, which I think is understandable.

Tigger is more like a dog than a cat. Although she is free to go outside she likes to stay close to me and my husband and will usually be found in whatever room we are in. She is a big cuddly ball of fluff, whose favourite toy is a yellow duck called Ducky.
She loves being brushed and tickled under her chin and will stand at the side of our bed and stare until one of us gives in and picks her up to sit with us. We couldn’t have asked for a better cat, and I am so glad we chose her (or maybe she chose us?) all those years ago.
