Sarah Piggott, Senior Branch Partnership Manager

Tell me a little about you – I am a Senior Branch Partnership Manager for the RSPCA. I have two cats adopted from the RSPCA, Hector and Hugo, and a dog also from the RSPCA called Dotty, they pretty much rule my life but I do a bit of temporary fostering every now and again too.

How long have you been with the RSPCA? I have worked for the RSPCA since 2012 in a number of roles.

As a trustee, what are your responsibilities? I am the link between the National Society and the branch structure, and support branches and their staff and volunteers in a number of areas.

Do you have a message for our followers/supporters/volunteers? We receive over 1 million phone calls about animal welfare concerns every year, which works out as one more than every 30 seconds. These calls result in thousands of animals coming into our care for rehoming, needing veterinary treatments, or for investigation by our inspectors – the RSPCA receives no government funding so everything we do would not be possible without the amazing generosity of our supporters and volunteers. Thank you for everything you do to support the RSPCA.

What is your favourite domestic and favourite British wild animal, and why?

I cannot choose between dogs & cats of course!

As for wild animals – hedgehogs! Lovely unique creatures who help keep slugs at bay in my garden! For advice about looking after hedgehogs in your garden please click HERE.

Do you have an amusing/heart-warming animal related anecdote, story or joke that you can share?

My dog Dotty features on the TV show ‘The Dog Rescuers’ – she had a number of health conditions when she was rescued by an Inspector and needed multiple surgeries, one of which is featured on the show!
