One of our inspectors took a call recently regarding a cat that had been abandoned in Balham in a cardboard box next to a skip down a cul-de-sac.
We should be thankful that the person or people that abandoned him had at least provided some shelter and a blanket, plus some water.

Not adequate for any cat of course and still a horrible thing to do. The poor boy had a flea allergy and was rather dehydrated, but other than that was generally ok.

He had a health check & treatment for fleas and after being held on an abandonment notice for 14-days in case the owner showed up, he is now at the Hampshire & Surrey Centre for Rehoming waiting for his new forever home and a positive future.
You can see details of any cats that we have awaiting a new home on our website. Together we can be there for all vulnerable animals.
