National Wildlife Day is marked both today and again on September 4th.

It was founded in 2005 by animal behaviourist and philanthropist Colleen Paige, serving to bring awareness of endangered animals nationally as well as globally, that need to be preserved and rescued from their demise each year.
It also acknowledges zoos and outstanding animal sanctuaries globally for everything they do to help preserve this planet’s animals and educate the public about conservation – especially children….our animal’s future caretakers and conservationists.
In the UK we have a wonderfully diverse wildlife kingdom as anybody who recently watched BBC Winterwatch will testify.
The RSPCA is there for all creatures, domestic or wild. We have four wildlife centres in the UK, the nearest of which is in East Sussex. You can read about the work that the RSPCA does there, as well as reading advice on what to do if you come across an injured or orphaned wild animal. Please click here for information.
You can also do your bit for British wildlife by joining in the 2022 Great British Spring Clean which takes place 25 March – 10 April. Litter really can harm wildlife, as innocuous as it may seem. A ring pull can choke an animal or a piece of string can act as a noose for unsuspecting wildlife. See the Keep Britain Tidy website for details.
