An Adoption Story – Rosie the Cat

Rosie, an 8 year old female tortie cat, was brought into us in February, after her owner needed to go into emergency accommodation which didn’t accept pets. Her owner told us that Rosie was used to a quiet household with only 1 or 2 people, so while Rosie tried to settle in at the cattery, that was the type of permanent home we set out to find.

Luckily Sandy applied to adopt lovely Rosie. Her house fitted the bill and Sandy was prepared to put in the time to win over Rosie’s trust after her ordeal.

Rosie arrived at Sandy’s in a carrier – still not very happy!

Sandy took Rosie home in March. She was nervous at first and would occasionally come for strokes but then bat Sandy’s hand away if she got scared again. It was clear she wanted affection but was still unsure.

After a few more weeks, Rosie would sleep next to Sandy and started playing with her toys.

And now, after nearly 2 months, Rosie sleeps next to Sandy all night and licks her hand, she is well and truly settled. She loves to have her hair brushed and she’s definitely the queen of Sandy’s castle!
