Guided Walk & Talk on Farthing Downs & Happy Valley, Coulsdon

In collaboration with the Croydon Council, City of London Corporation and RSPCA Purley, Caterham & District, we are delighted to be holding a walk and talk with rangers Ed Sanger & Dominic North on Sunday 10th July on the stunning Farthing Downs & Happy Valley in Coulsdon.

Farthing Downs, Coulsdon. RSPCA South London

We will kick off at 10.30 with the guided walk lasting approximately 2-hours 30-minutes, ending at the Fox pub at Coulsdon Common. We would encourage you to arrive by train at nearby Coulsdon South Station, which is approximately 15-minutes’ walk from the start point (details of the precise start point will be sent once you have booked).

We will stop after around an hour for a comfort break at the Downs car park where toilets are available.

You will learn about the history and the diverse flora & fauna of the Downs &Valley, plus hear about the considerable efforts made to conserve the beautiful area so that it can be enjoyed by all for generations.

There will be a fun activity for kids, and you are more than welcome to bring along your dog, though your faithful friends should be kept on the lead for the duration of the guided walk.

This is a free event, though donations to our charities would be very gratefully received. Please see our respective websites to donate.

Numbers (of humans) are limited to 30 including kids and can be booked through Eventbrite via the following link

You should wear sturdy footwear and dress and prepare appropriately for the weather forecast on the day. Don’t forget to bring water with you for you and your pet.

The route is approximately 2.5 miles and does include some uneven ground and steep slopes but is only moderately physical.

If you do book but then find that you are unable to attend, we would ask that you cancel on Eventbrite to free up space for others.

At the end of the guided walk, you are welcome to continue with us into the Fox pub to purchase some refreshment or to return directly to Coulsdon South via buses 466 and 404 or 60 (see route example below).

The Downs are a safe and inclusive environment, but you attend the guided walk at your own risk and the organisers accept no liability for your participation.
