Interview With Our Colouring Competition Winner

We recently ran a colouring competition to raise some funds for our animal welfare work and were amazed at the quality of the entries we received. The judges were however unanimous in declaring the winner as 7 3/4 year old Isaac.

Isaac clearly has great imagination and a fine artistic touch going on his lovely vibrant creation, pictured below.

We were intrigued by Isaac’s work, so caught up with him to ask a few questions.

What inspired you to colour the cats the way you did?

I had all my colours out and I wanted to include all things about my family like the Jamaica and Dorset flags and other things we talk about.

RSPCA South London – that’s very clever Isaac. Can our readers spot the flag cats?

Did you think you might win our competition?

No I did not.

You won a book token, have you decided what book you will buy with it?

I think I want to buy the Guinness World Records book and I want to look for a book about different dog breeds.

RSPCA South London – some great choices Isaac. Its a marvellous idea to learn about diffrent types of dog as each breed has their own unique characteristics.

What do you think the RSPCA does for cats and other pets?

It helps animals if they’re hurt or if they’ve had a unkind owner and if they’ve run away and got lost.

RSPCA South London – thats exactly right Isaac. Last year we rehomed 63 cats in our area to give them a better life, and we also helped a lot of pet owners with their animal welfare needs. Our RSPCA inspectors also rescued many hundreds of injured, trapped and stray animals.

What is your favourite domestic pet and what is your favourite British wild animal?

Dogs because they’re friendly and nice to play with [Isaac has a cockapoo called Pickle!].

Weasels because they can really squeeze through tiny holes, I also want to see an otter one day, and squirrels are my third favourite wild animal.

RSPCA South London – we have asked many people the same question Isaac and you are definitely the first person to say a weasel was their favourite British wild animal. The are indeed beautiful creatures – and very cunning too apparently!

That just leaves us to thank all of our entrants and to congratulate Isaac on his victory. Huge thanks also to Backstory London Bookshop who very generously donated a £30 book voucher as the winning prize. They are based on Balham High Road and you can check out their website HERE.
