Three Is The Magic Number (Of Cats)!

Last October a lady signed over three beautiful young cats over to us: Pixie, Nilana and Delilah. They had been rescued
off the street as kittens and raised indoors by a lady who had been trying to reduce the number of stray cats in her area.

As these sisters became adults, it became harder for her to keep them indoors to prevent them getting pregnant, so they called us in the hope that we would be able to take them in and get them rehomed!

They were given a clean bill of health from the vets and we had the trio microchipped and neutered to avoid any future mishaps.

As the sisters were raised indoors, around the same people and with very little understanding of the rest of the world, these cats came to us extremely anxious.

Delilah and Nilana were especially terrified and could not even enjoy a scratch under the chin. Delilah was starting to show that she might benefit from a foster home as she was spending a lot of time away from her sisters, so we arranged this for her. Unfortunately even a quiet foster home was not enough to get Delilah out of her shell, however we persevered with new tools and techniques in case there was a breakthrough.

We used a camera trap to keep an eye on her behaviour overnight, where we thankfully could see her behaving normally – and actually quite cheekily!

After what has felt like a very long time, someone named Maria finally came forward to adopt Pixie and Nilana after having lost their own cat recently. They were renamed as Billy and Bella, and we made sure to set the adopter up properly with advice and what they should expect in the first few weeks. Only a few days after dropping them off however, we received news that Bella (Nilana) had completely come out of her shell!

Billy and Bella have apparently been racing up and down the stairs in the mornings, and keeping Maria company while she works at home on her own business. It turns out that all Billy and Bella needed was a bit more healthy chaos to replicate the environment they grew up in!

You can see a video of Billy & Bella in their new home here.

When the adopter heard about Delilah, she was immediately interested in adopting her too, so last week we arranged to bring Delilah to her to foster for now, so all three sisters could soon be reunited again. We are waiting to see the results now, but we are excited and hopeful that they will find their happy ending.
