November British Wildlife of the Month – Small Creatures

We are talking about the likes of squirrels, hedgehogs, rabbits, rodents and pigeons here.

RSPCA South London

Would you know what to do if you encountered a sick or injured small animal or bird? The RSPCA can help you to help small creatures in need and at the same time help us.

Our inspectors are a finite resource and they often have to prioritise difficult animal rescues or attending to larger animals such as foxes and deer.

With the right precautions you can help sick or injured small animals – the RSPCA has published advice HERE.

Vets are duty bound to treat small wildlife that are brought to them – as a minimum to relieve any suffering or to put them out of their misery if that is unfortunately the only option.

There is also a dedicated RSPCA helpline for small animals in need. You should call 0300 123 8967 to hear advice.

For larger animals or if you are witness to animal abuse, neglect or cruelty you should call the National Call Centre on 0300 1234 999. There is also online chat available HERE.

If you need to specifically contact the South London Branch, you can find details HERE.

  1. Hi, I am reporting that there is a young fox in our back garden that seems to be close to death. He/she doesn’t run away when I approach and is covered with flies. He/she has been asleep al day but has managed to move down the garden towards our shed. But I fear it’s on its way out now. I need help, how can you help me please? my address is 38 Iberian Avenue, Wallington, SM6 8JB.
