RSPCA Assured Livestock & Dairy

We are largely a nation of ominvores, and no doubt on Christmas Day many of us will be tucking into traditional turkey with all the trimmings. Or perhaps another bird such as goose, duck, chicken or pheasant.

Others prefer red meat for the occasion, or even fish. Whatever your preference, please spare a thought for the well-being of the creatures that have become the centre piece of your meal.

The RSPCA has awarded many farmers, breeders & producers RSPCA Assured status. This means that they adhere to the RSPCA’s welfare standards covering every aspect of the animals’ lives from living conditions and veterinary care to environmental enrichment and transportation. It also covers egg & dairy production.

Please look out for the above label on your purchases at major supermarkets & convenience store chains. You can read more about RSPCA Assured HERE.

Whatever you eat on 25th December, we at RSPCA South London hope that you all have have a fabulous time. You can read about how the turkey came to the UK by clicking on this article from the Game & Wildfowl Conservation Trust.
