Unfortunately we are having to deal with a large number of pets that require dentistry work at the moment.
Teeth decay and gum disease is extremely painful for dogs & cats, and can also mean that the poor animal is unable to eat properly, causing more issues. If your pet ever needed such treatment, it is not an easy operation as it requires full anaesthetic and a specialist vet. It is not cheap either. We have had several recent cases that have cost over £600 each, and in some instances over £1,000.

Unfortunately, some pet insurance does not cover dentistry work, and pet insurance covering such work can be very expensive, especially with older pets. This has led to owners becoming desperate and reaching out to animal welfare charities such as ourselves to ask for financial assistance.
Whilst it is possible to clean the teeth of a dog on a regular basis, this is notoriously difficult with a cat, who can turn into a wild feline if faced with a toothbrush!

A good diet is also very important to maintain healthy teeth and you should speak to your vet for their recommended diet plan for your pet. The RSPCA has also published advice for the dental well-being of dogs and cats.
With our vetinerary costs spiralling of late, we would also be extremely grateful if you were able to make a donation towards animal welfare to allow us to continue to provide the care that animals often need in South London. If you can afford a few pounds, please click on the donate button below.
The RSPCA is able to recommend pet insurance provided by Pinacle Insurance. They include dental cover. Click QUOTE for more details.
