We’d like to tell you about some of the essential work we do. Rubic and her kittens came into us recently after a call. They were found in Thornton Heath after Rubic had given birth in a garage!
This case came with a real urgency because Rubic is not a typical socialised cat, and her kittens would soon learn the same survival techniques, often teaching them to fear humans and making it near impossible to neuter them and provide any medical attention if they needed it.

Our Animal Welfare Officer got straight to work! A full assessment of all the cats needs was carried out, in tandem with organising a fosterer for them.
This meant that during this period, the kittens could learn the wisdom that their mother can provide while also building positive relationships with humans .
It is always touch-and-go with these sorts of cases, as the cat mum often aims to teach their kittens to fear humans. The socialisation period generally occurs before the kittens reach 7 weeks, so we arrived in time. Just a few weeks later from their rescue, they are happy, safe and are currently exploring the living room and taking on solid food. They’ve also been immunised and microchipped.

Even mum has come out of her shell over the last month and shows increasing trust through her moments of interaction with our fosterer – more so than we were expecting.
Your funds pay not only for our Animal Welfare Officer, but also all the care, immunisations and microchipping that are needed for these kittens, ready to find new homes.
