Would You Know What To Do If You Found An Abandoned Kitten?

Every year there is an increase in kittens produced. This means we see an increase in abandoned kittens and notifications of people being unable to manage an increase in pets. This time is usually between April to October and we see a massive uptake in phone calls asking for our help. You can find out more regarding kitten season here.

However, would you know what to do if you came across a stranded kitten or kittens?

The first thing to do is observe. Unless it is an emergency or you’ve been instructed by a vet or other do not approach the kitten.

Found kittens? Here’s what to do!

From a distance, check for signs that the kittens might need urgent care. Compare their activity levels to online kitten age guides to distinguish lethargy from normal kitten behaviour. Look out for excessive fleas or ticks, open wounds, labored breathing, eye or nose discharge, diarrhoea, significant weight loss or any other concerning symptoms.
