The Story Of Missy

Have you thought about adopting one of our abandoned animals? We re-home so many animals in the South London, carefully matching the animal with the person. If you’d like to find out more, read on.

Missy arrived at the RSPCA South London Branch in a few months ago after her owner sadly fell ill and could no longer care for her. Almost 2 years old, she was a shy but affectionate cat who just needed time and patience to feel safe again.

Missy was placed in foster care, where she slowly came out of her shell. Though timid, her love language was physical touch—once she trusted someone, she would seek them out for comfort and affection.

Thankfully, she didn’t have to wait long before finding her perfect forever home. Her adopter told us: “Through adoption from RSPCA, I am very happy for building a good relationship with Missy. And she is now building a friendship with my older cat, Lucky. Both are from RSPCA and have a common shared life story, having had tough lives, having been given in by previous owners or neglected.”

Missy and Lucky were introduced gradually, and before long, they were sharing treats together.

“Yesterday, she showed her belly to Lucky, and this morning, she brought a bag of treats to me from downstairs to ask for treats.”

Missy is now thriving in her new home, and we couldn’t be happier for her! Her adopter shared: “Meeting Missy through RSPCA has allowed me, my partner, and Lucky to thrive on our sense of connectedness. And I am grateful to you for sharing this story with those who love cats and are considering adoption from RSPCA.”

We are so thankful to Missy’s new family for giving her the love and patience she needed, and we wish them many happy years together!
