How Our Community Can Change Lives in the Year Ahead

A new year always brings a sense of possibility. It is a moment to pause, reflect and then look forward with purpose. For everyone at RSPCA South London, the year ahead is about deepening our roots in the community and working together to improve the lives of local animals.

Thanks to the incredible support of our volunteers, supporters and partners, 2025 was a year of real impact. Together, as your South London branch we rehomed 63 cats, microchipped 60 animals and neutered 62 cats, dogs and rabbits. Each number represents an animal whose life is safer, healthier and full of new hope.

As we look ahead, we want to invite more people to be part of that story.

Get involved through challenges and events

Sponsored challenges and community events are a brilliant way to support local animals while doing something positive for yourself or with friends. Whether it is a walk, a run, a personal challenge or a creative fundraising idea, every effort helps fund vital care, veterinary treatment and rehoming work. These moments also bring people together and help build a stronger, kinder community for animals and people alike.

Inspiring the next generation through schools

Education is a huge part of our future focus. We are continuing to expand our outreach as a community partner with local schools, helping children learn about animal welfare, responsible pet ownership and kindness towards all animals. If you have children at a school in our area, or work in education, we would love to connect. These visits are not just talks, they are conversations that spark empathy, understanding and lifelong learning.

Supporting sustainability through our shops

Our three local charity shops play a vital role in our work. By shopping with us, donating pre loved items or supporting one of those all important clear outs, you are helping animals while making a sustainable choice. Every purchase and donation helps fund our services locally, keeping resources within the community and reducing waste at the same time.

A lasting way to care for animals

The start of the year is also a natural time to think about getting your paperwork in order. Leaving a gift to RSPCA South London in your Will is a powerful way to protect animals long into the future. To make this easier, we will cover the legal fees for writing or updating your Will when you choose to include a legacy gift. So it’s absolutely free. It is a simple step that can make a lasting difference to local animals in need. Find out more
