This is Onslow, or Sid, as we knew him. He came into us at the end of 2020 when the family who’d been feeding him as the stray he then was, were moving away. He had a lot of trust issues and was very nervous around new people. This was quite unsurprising as he had several pellet scars on his legs so we know he’d had a very traumatic life up to that point.

We decided to try him in a foster home to see if he would be happy in a safe environment once he got used to his carers. The answer was a resounding yes and he absolutely loved finally having a home of his own. He would follow his foster mum around and join her regularly for her Zoom calls. He didn’t lose his stray scavenger mentality though and his foster mum learnt the hard way that she couldn’t leave any food unattended!

We unfortunately found out after vet tests that Onslow had chronic kidney disease stage 2, which would mean a special diet and regular blood tests.
His foster mum decided to make things permanent and adopted him, while we continued to fund his special treatment. Two years on and he’s still going strong, these photos show the many personalities of Onslow. His owner Laura said, ‘I couldn’t be more smitten with him if I tried. Best thing I ever did was adopt him.’

Onslow, or Sid, is lucky to have found such a loving foster family and ultimately a forever home. It’s heartbreaking to hear about the pellet scars on his legs, but it’s heartwarming to know that he’s found safety and happiness in his new home. It’s also great to hear that his new family is willing to provide the necessary care for his chronic kidney disease. Thank you for sharing this heartwarming story with us.

Onslow’s story is both heartbreaking and heartwarming. It’s so sad to think of the trauma he must have experienced before finding his forever home. But it’s heartwarming to hear how much he’s thrived in his foster home and found a loving adoptive family. Thank you for sharing his story and for giving him the love and care he deserves.
